On September 11, 2018,
residents living in the Lafayette County School District will vote on a School District bond referendum. The bond, estimated at between $23 million and $24 million, includes plans for the following projects: building a new Lafayette Elementary School, adding much needed classrooms to Lafayette Middle School, renovating the old elementary school to accommodate some restructuring in current classroom layouts at Lafayette Upper Elementary School to accommodate overgrowth, and building a new sheltered walkway to accommodate a need to move students to and from the middle school and high school during the lunch hour. The Lafayette School District’s building plan reflects the changes needed to address the current and future projected growth of the school district.
